Johnny Milton in the Navy

Johnny joined the Navy in November 1956 and attended his boot camp in San Diego, California. His First duty station, Aviation Boatswain Mate, Fuels on board the air craft carrier USS Lexington CVA-16. His tours included Straits of Formosa, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, China and the Philippines. He had tow overhaul periods in Bremerton, WA. He was discharged from the Navy in August of 1960.
Johnny worked at the Fuel Farm at Altus Air Force Base until 1965 when he joined the Navy Reserve. He transferred to active duty, and on the same day he joined the reserves. He was stationed at the Fuel Farm , Sand Point Naval Air Station in Seattle, Washington. His tours included Straits of Formosa, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, China and the Philippines. I thought that Johnny was so handsome in his sailor uniform. I remember that when he was overseas that Mother wrote him often and he also sent us things from over there. Mother had a beatiful set of China with a black rose pattern. Linda and I had jewlery boxes and pretty silk pajamas. We were so proud of him. Johnny loved the Navy and it is a shame that he got sick and could not stay in longer than he did.
